Support for NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award Proposal Preparation

The National Science Foundation's Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award Program provides five years of financial support for "early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education within the context of the mission of their organization." Project GRO and the Office of Research Training, Education, and Communication (ORTEC) are presenting a series of programs to assist Ohio State faculty who are preparing NSF CAREER Award proposals. Registration for these programs is available through the ORTEC website (http://osp.osu.edu/training/).

NSF Early CAREER Award Outreach Workshop (April 26, 2011)

Presentations by "best practices" outreach programs that can partner with NSF CAREER Award applicants to develop the educational activities for the proposal, including COSI and the Ohio House of Science and Engineering. An introduction to the NSF CAREER Award RFP, a panel discussion with past NSF CAREER Award recipients, and an overview of Ohio State resources available to assist in preparation of NSF CAREER Award proposals.

A panel discussion with past NSF CAREER Award recipients Mark Moritz (Anthropology), Sarah Schoppe-Sullivan (Human Development and Family Science), and Trisha Van Zandt (Psychology), plus presentations and Q&A with representatives from COSI, WOSU, the OSU Women in Engineeering program, and the OSU Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). NSF Funded Faculty Panel Discussion (October 22, 2007)

An ORTEC program featuring a panel of investigators who have received funding from NSF provide insight with regard to working with the NSF. Each panelist shares his or her thoughts about what helped them when they were first starting out, the proposal review process, and how to best work with this sponsor throughout proposal development and submission.
